On May 17th, the establishment ceremony of the Silk Road Tea Institute between GVTC and MFU was held in the lecture hall. Vice President CHENG Yunyan, Dr. Sujitra Wongkasemjit, and Vice President of MFU, signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between GVTC and the Tea and Coffee Institute of MFU.

The participants of the ceremony include Dr. Piyaporn, Dean of the Tea and Coffee Institute of MFU, Dr. Akkharawit, President of Florianopolis, Mr. CHEN Enhai, Dean of the School of Agricultural Engineering, Ms. ZHAO Hongmei, Dean of the School of International Education, and the faculty of the International Office of MFU, as well as researchers from the Institute of MFU and professors of tea majors from the School of Agricultural Engineering.
The leaders of both parties delivered speeches respectively. In Cheng’s speech, she pointed out that, on the United Nations Chinese Language Day, relevant educational organizations in China and Thailand signed a series of agreements on educational cooperation in Chinese. Standing at the new stage of the tenth anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Thailand. The establishment is of great significance. It will become a bridge for cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Thailand, allowing more people in the countries along the Belt and Road to know, love and taste tea. Together, the development of the Road in the tea industry can be promoted. In addition, Dr. Sujitra expressed her sincere gratitude to the School of Agricultural Engineering for the support in delivering knowledge about tea to the students and staff of MFU. She hopes that through the Silk Road Tea Institute, the cooperation between the two universities will be closer, especially in the exchanges and cooperation in tea-making skills and tea culture. It is a great bonus for contributing and working together to make the tea industry go to a wider world.
GVTC and the Silk Road Tea Institute of MFU will jointly promote academic cooperation, tea craft training, and exchanges between teachers and students. Moreover, they will establish an international center of tea craft within 5 years and then provide other teaching activities.
At the ceremony, Dr. Yakalaway delivered a speech on behalf of the Thailand Science and Technology Development Center.
