On the afternoon of March 21, according to the college's "High-Level Vocational College" arrangement for promoting the international project of tea tree planting and tea processing professional group, School of Agriculture and Engineering of Guangxi Vocational and Technical College specially invited Ms. Vidarshani P. Ellepola to host an online tea culture master class, named "Tea and Health" for our teachers and students from Department of Tea. Enhai CHEN, Dean of School of Agriculture and Engineering, teachers from Tea Research and Teaching Center and tea students also attended this event.

Ms.Vidarshani first introduced the main chemical compositions contained in green tea and black tea from the perspective of tea nutrition, using many pictures to vividly explain the effect of main active ingredients in tea e.g. tea polyphenols, caffeine, theanine. Then she introduced in detail the special effects of tea in antioxidation, anti-aging, treatment of inflammation and diabetes, prevention of cardiovascular disease, cancer and dental caries from the perspective of medical research. Finally, she stressed the latest frontier research development of tea in enhancing human body immunity and inhibiting coronavirus.
This webinar is very academic and forward-looking, not only enriching tea students' knowledge of tea and health and enhancing their international vision, but also broadening the research vision and innovative mind of tea teacher team, which is the expected effect.
